How long after a city-hall wedding to have the family/friend party?

How long after a city-hall wedding to have the family/friend party?

My fiancee and I are planning on getting married in July '08 in Denmark without telling anyone. We've announced our engagement and were planning on a semi-traditional wedding with our friends and family in April 2009, but decided to more-or-less elope when we go visit his family this summer and still do the party the following April. We're both excited, but I'm wondering what people's thoughts are of having the celebration of our marriage 9-10 months after the actual wedding.
