Is there a way for my mother to claim guardianship of my friend? My friend's mom is abusive, and her dad can't/won't take her in. So, me just being a friend, is there a way for my mom to claim guardianship over my friend?
| |||
yes your mom can do that and she can ask your friends parents to do it legally your mom also would have to have evidence that she can afford to keep her and make a better home for her all these things are involved but yes your mom can (adoption)

Yes, but it would have to be done legally with the consent of your friends parents. I would also analyze the abusive aspect your friend tells you about her mother, and make sure it's not all made up as some people will do when they don't get their way.

i think your friend can ask to be separated legally from parents and then ask if she can be adopted by your mom if she's older then like 13 (she has to knowingly be asking) but you should call around to a couple of lawyers for advice and go to your city hall to ask exactly what it is you have to do. but yes i think it is possible. best of luck to you and your friend!

If your friend reports her mom than she can be taken in by the next best guardian. if her dad won't take her than your family might be able to take her in if you friend is up for it and if the court think you are a suitable family. you should definitely look more info on this. it's awesome what you are trying to so for your friend!

Some states allow a 16yo to claim self garden ship. If she can do this; she can live where ever she wants to. If she's under this age she can report her mom to your states childrens services and they will take garden ship of her. If they do this, there is no gerentee where the state will place her, but your parents could ask to be her foster parents. BTW: I saw your other question. This is your girlfriend right? You don't want your parents taking legal garden ship of her since this would make her your adoptive sister. That would open up a big legal can of worms if the two of you want to marry someday.
