My friend was sentenced today in Canadian court?

We are Canadian and today he was sentenced to 3 years in prison for robbing a women two years ago. What happened was, he ran up to her and used a knife to rip her purse, and then ran off. He was later arrested and today he was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Isn't it a bit too much? I mean, the crown argued that it was armed robbery when there was no bodily harm threatened.

He was carrying a weapon and ROBBED AN INNOCENT WOMEN!!!!! yah nobody got hurt but soo what! if he didnt want to deal with the consequences maybe he shouldnt have committed a crime,

He was armed with a knife - hence armed robbery
