Does this guy's best friend have a thing for me?

So there is this guy i liked and well we aren't talking anymore because he says he doesn't want to talk to me anymore and this is because of something i said to him that he didn't like. So then I see his best friend the other day and he kept staring at me and was listening to me talk on the phone. Isn't this weird considering the I like claims he doesn't like me but his best friend stares at me and listens to my conversations. And everytime I see his bestfriend he stares at me. Am I being paranoid or is this weird! Why would he have his friend spy on me?
