Good friends,but I think we could be more(Guys and Girls please answer)?

My friend and I are amazing friends we ski at least every two weeks together,and hes fun,and I like him,a lot.I think he likes me to,for example I told him that my type was someone fun,who liked camping and hiking,and had to be at least as tall as up to my neck,he suddenly told me that he loved to hike,and would love to go tent camping,but has never gotten to.Also,two other girls in my class(were in a split) practically love him,and we all hang out and he knows that they like him but refuses to date him because there a year older then him,and we play football together at recess,I never played it,but he actually bothered to teach me,hes the quarter back and I'm a blocker,but anyway do you think I should ask him out,I really don't know if I should because were such god friends and I never want to lose that.
Also,I talk a lot ,that's just my personality,and people get annoyed when I talk,but he sais that he enjoys when I talk!
Im a girl by the way!Lol
