What should I get for my guy friend's B-Day? (he likes me, but I wanna be friends)?

OK, so I have this friend, who's a really nice guy and we get along really well. But I just wanna be friends, cause he's not really my type. He's good looking but he's a bit of a player. He likes me and has asked me out several times and I've always declined.

Anyways, today is his birthday...what should I get him? It's tricky cause I dont want it to be like a gift you give your boyfriend; but what iff he gets upset that I gave him a "Friend-like" gift?! \ Or do you think I should get him nothing?
When I asked him what he wanted, he said, "I want you to not leave for law school!" He's sweet. )

Oh, and he's in the Sheriff's academy, he's an ex-Marine and he works out a lottttt!

Got any ideas? Suggestions? Advice?
