| What are 'endless genealogies' in 1Timothy 1:4?, the 'genealogies' spoken of again in Titus 3:9? 1Timothy 1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: [so do]. Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. Avoid (don't give heed to): - fables - genealogies - endless genealogies - foolish questions - contentions - strivings about the law These things are unprofitable and vain (seem to be opposite of edifying in faith) (seem to be opposite of justified by grace) In Titus 3, Paul seems to be comparing: profitable (grace) vs unprofitable (law) What are your thoughts on it?      |
