Why can't people mind their own business????

I don't understand this intrusive behavior so common in America today. I was always raised to mind my own business. But when I see issues like gay marriage and the drug war, it seems that everyone else wants to force their will onto everyone else. I would never have a gay marriage or do drugs, but if someone else wants to do those things, who am I to say that they can't??? What right do I have to impose on their freedom??? And then there are all the people who try to force their religious beliefs on others. You have people trying to make schools teach creationism and force students to pray in schools. You also have people going door to door trying to spread their beliefs. When someone goes up to someone they do not know that well and starts questioning that person about their beliefs, I consider that about equal to asking someone you do not know that well about their marital status. You just don't do it. I guess most people in this country are raised to be nosy as hell.
