Rahl has a spectacular aura about
Should I change my college career path?

So heres my deal. I am a sophomore at DeVry University, studying Electrical Engineering. I like technology, I like putting things together, but this has always been hand in hand with medicine. I have been getting a very strong liking to the medical field, more specifically in the surgical area, and I am at a standstill. I am not sure whether I should pursue my surgeon dream or stay at DeVry and finish up my engineering degree, and even then, if I should continue to go to med school. I don't really have ANY experience in the medical fields, just a strong feeling that it is something I truly would love doing.

As we all know, medical school isn't something you just jump into, or pay for right off the bat. Average time for a medical student is 6 years. So this is making my decision even harder.

Advice and help is much appreciated. Especially from surgeons.

Medical schools will not accept you from DeVry. Even going to a great university you acceptance chances are VERY low. I went to Notre Dame and knew dozens of people who could not get into any medical schools. You would have to start over at a major university to even have a shot at medical school.

That said, that doesn't mean there aren't medical careers that aren't surgery. There's nursing, medical assisting, x-ray techs.....etc.

I would research the field more to decide if it's something you really feel passionately about. If it's not, then I would continue to pursue your current degree.
