Is using a computer as your career dangerous?

Im really interested in using a computer to put patient data into hospital computer systems. Im afraid it might be dangerous since you use computers often. Any ideas?

No, Most people use comperters at some point during the day, if not all day, every day in their careers.

I think all you have to worry about is make sure that your chair is right or you could hurt your back. Make sure your wrists are elevated or at the same level as your keyboard (carpal tunnel) Make sure you wear glasses or contacts if you need to (eye strain)

I bet that since CRT's have gone away, computers are a lot less health hazardous. Just a guess though.

You need to use a comfortable chair. You need a comfortable keyboard and mouse setup with the gel wrist pads. Get a mouse that is made to reduce the possibility of getting carpel tunnel syndrome. It is made so that your wrist wrests on the side and not on the flat part of your wrist.
Take frequent breaks. Get up and walk around.

If you are going to do that from home or somewhere outside of the hospital, then it is not safe. Hackers can get into your computer and steal the data and sell them to the black market. However, if you have to use it at home, take the risk but make sure you take precaution on what you are going to do or doing. Download trusted antivirus and spyware softwares like Norton, BitDefender; Ad-Aware.
