Is there a resource to know what market news (earnings reports etc.) is...

...coming up and when? For the life of me I can't find anywhere that posts this stuff. I want to know which stocks have big news coming up for them and what likely date it will be announced. Lately the only way I know is watching tv.

The more info you know about a particular company and its stock, the more of an advantage you have.

Stocks are more volatile and risky during certain times:
during the earnings announcement period: about 1 week before and after that date;
if you know the stock will be splitting on a certain date,
when you check the news: either good news or bad causes a stock to move.

You can usually find out about news and stock splits on http:finance.yahoo.com
After entering the stock's symbol, you can usually navigate around the site to get various info about that stock or company.

Earnings Announcement dates: http://earnings.com

After entering the stock's symbol, you can usually find or come pretty close to "guesstimating" what date the company will announce its earnings.

You could also go to the individual company's website to get information.

http://whisspers.com is also a good site to use.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

Gordon I has a spectacular aura about
Multiple sources-Wall Strret Journal, Barrons, Investors Business Daily, Bloomburg etc. If you want to really understand how the markets work, I strongly suggest subscribing to either the WSJ or IBD...it's worth the relative small investment

As noted there are a number of sources. One that I find useful is briefing.com.
