Why can't Canadians admit that we Americans have a better health care system?

Ok. Now that I have your attention, my good neighbors, what is your opinion on Canadian Vs. United States' health care? Would you trade yours with ours?

Do you have any universal health care horror stories, and if so you would mind sharing?

To be honest I don't trust US media on reports on other nations' health care systems. I would rather have it straight from the horses' mouthes.
thank you for all your answers.

Of course canadian health care is better -It's free and you actually get in faster in a canadian hospital - i just watched Michael moores "sicko" and looked up some of his stuff to back it up and found out most of the stuff in the documentary was true -and i was appauled! So many other countries have free health care and even some of their homeless people are healthier than Americans!

Canadians choose their own doctors and are entitled to a second opinion.

The big bonus about the Canadian health care system is emergency care is provided regardless of income. A welfare recipient doesn't have to worry about big bills should a child need care. Or going to a clinic to get a prescription for antibiotics. Or seeing a family doctor in general.

Some services require payment, though, like dentistry and optometry, and some paperwork for insurance companies, but these are more the exceptions than the rule. And the patient pays for prescriptions as well. At a pharmacy. Like Americans.

Yes, hospital waits are long, but priority is given to critical patients, just as American hospitals do.

An American would think twice and disease doesn't discriminate. A whole community could become affected.

I mean no offence, but sometimes the rest of the world wonders why, in a country so great with so many talented doctors and medicine available, would anyone rather have plastic surgery for themselves if they knew that basic health care needs were not being met by lower income families.

Sorry, but no trade.

I would take my health care paid by my employer over outrageous taxes any day. Let the corporations pay the bills not me.

I would take the Canadian system any day over the crummy "system" the US currently has. We've got millions of little kids who don't have insurance. I'm widowed, I work my butt off at a "real" job and have a personal side business, and still can't afford to go to the doctor for anything less than catastrophic because I've got a $3000 deductible with no co-payments. I have not been to a dentist in nearly a decade because I cannot afford it.

That fact is Canadians come to the U.S. when they want operations done because up there they have to wait several months.

The American system is better for rich people and the Canadian system is better for poor people. It's as simple as that.
