Why do republican candidates hardly ever talk about health care..or college

education? high gas prices, or stopping outsourcing of workers' jobs?

Is it me, or does it seem like there is a disconnect about the things that americans care about in their daily lives?
wow..from reading these posts I now understand. Apparently republicans think there is no health care crisis, and that our kids graduating college with $50,000 or $80,000 in debt to student loans is just dandy...and that gas prices are just swell and govt has had nothing to do with the record profits oil companies are making even with all the corporate welfare they get.

They have a different approach to pulling the wool over our eyes.

The Democrats look for things to stir emotions (but have you ever looked at whether they actually do them? Rarely. Health Care has been an issue through may years of total Democratic control)

The Republican approach is not emotional. And I can't say their track record is better or worse.

In the end, what society wants and is willing to pay for drive the economy, not the Fed.

Both parties have War records - Viet Nam and Cuba have Democratic heritage. Iraq has Republican roots. Clinton sent troops and bombs to Afghanistan and Kosovo.

Neither party addresses the humanity crimes in Africa.

Maybe, because like Bush giving AIDs meds etc to Africa, instead of blowing their own horns about it they just go and do it.

BTW, what can politicians do about supply and demand (gasoline) or companies outsourcing jobs? NOTHING!

Yes, there's a big disconnect, but they don't talk about health care or college education because the govermnment has no right to take money from me to pay for someone elses college education or health care. You can thank nafta for the outsourcing and gas prices.

I, for one, don't expect the government to do everything for me. It's called personal responsibility and it's a disagreement on principal with those that feel the government is the solution to every problem.

Obviously you don't listen to GOP debates or their speeches and have never gone to a GOP website.

So it's not that they aren't talking about health and education.. it's just that your not open to candidates positions and policies unless they are Democrat candidates.

So why bother asking the question.

If they like the Constitution, then they know it doesn't authorize the federal government to get its tentacles into education. Or health care. Or high gas prices. Or outsourcing.

Liberals and Democrats think government is the solution to every problem. It ain't.

What exactly can the government do about high gas prices?

The government has caused the problems with health care, by over-regulation, and college education, by throwing money at it and encouraging colleges to raise tuition.

What in the world can government do about outsourcing, besides lower corporate tax rates and get rid of efficiency-hampering regulation?
-------------------------
Republicans are much more likely to improve each of these things, while Democrats are likely to make them even worse.

Gee, jess, I'm just really sorry you aren't getting the answers you hoped for.

the Federal Government Cannot run every aspect of daily life. Health carehas become a mess so there should be some discussion of that But education is a state and local function and the Fed should get out of it.
