A "communications degree" in education will help you land a job as yearbook or school newspaper director.....and maybe advisor to the speech and debate club....which may or may not be what you have in mind. I have a minor in Comms and a major in Geography/History....and I teach Social Studies in high school. I didn't advertise my communications minor because I didn't want to get stuck doing yearbook. But history jobs are SUPER HARD to find and english is about second in line for being tough to get. So any extra stuff you are legal to teach (thanks to the NCLB "endorsements policy) is gonna help you get a teaching job.

Good luck though!!! Its the best job in the world!!!!

Depending on where (state and type of school) and what you'd like to teach....If you want to teach high school english or history you can get hired, but most schools will require you to get a master's in education within a certain time frame.
