we are told in my district to promote abstinence only. It's so dumb though. So many kids are already having sex, and aren't going to stop. Plus I had 2 girls in my class that were already pregnant, and just had their babies.
We need to teach about safe sex, and the dangers of contracting an STD...or dealing with a baby when you are not ready.

I think they should teach about safe sex too, cause no matter what they say ppl are still gonna do it, so they might as well tell them how to do it right

I think sex education should consist of the teachings of safe sex because even if abstinence is taught there is a big chance that adolescents and people in general will have sex anyway because of hormones. I feel that abstinance should be mentioned as a great option in sex education, but teachers of sex education should focus on teaching about protection and health clinics such as planned parenthood.

I think they should teach that being abstinent should be the teen's first choice but if he/she decides to disregard being abstinent, and is going to have sex, that they should use a condom or another type of birth control. So I guess they should teach both.

Both abstinence and safe sex practices should be taught. Knowledge is power and kids need this power to be safe.
