Why doesn't America value education anymore?!?

It is extremely frustrating when you go to school and ask a question and the teacher looks at you like "why are you bothering me?". Yeah, God forbid I make you do your job, right. Then if you need to stay after school to finish a lab report and the only place that contains the set up is that particular labratory, they absolutely REFUSE to stay an extra 10 minutes because they can not afford to miss their soap operas! I mean seriously, does the US value education anymore. And from what I hear this is in a lot of schools. I attend an all girls Catholic School in New York City and I've spoken to friends in Private and Public Schools who have had the same problem! May be the problem isn't that kids are becoming more dumb, but rather that teachers are becoming more lazy and education is no longer valued in America!
