recoveringredneck227 has a spectacular aura about
What is the best branch of military to join for insurance, education and

support of the family man? My husband is 34 and tired of getting laid off all the time. He has never served in the military but is seriously considering joining for more job security. Plus a lot of branches are offering sign-on bonuses. We have 2 small children and one on the way in November. We need excellent insurance benefits, a good salary, and possibly furthering education funds. All though I'm concerned about the frequency of deployment overseas, I know we might have to just "bite the bullet" to survive financially right now. I understand some military branches have better reserves than others as well. So far we've looked into the Army, Air Force and National Guard. We would also like to keep our family in the U.S.
He is currently a heavy duty truck mechanic and is considering doing something in that field or with electronics (i.e. helicopter mechanic, airplane mechanic) He has NEVER been in the military to clarify. overseas for our family isn't the end of the world as long as it's not in a combat zone. Ideally we just want more security and a better future for our family.
