Any suggestions to a soon to be 1st year physical Education teacher?

I have the best game ever! It's called "Star Wars"! You have kids throw balls at each other (it's really fun in the summer because you can use water balloons). You split the gym (or whatever you're playing on) in half and divide the kids into two teams, the light side and the dark side. You have one kid on each team be a Jedi, and they must wield the light saber, which is a pool noodle. Anyone out would kneel down, and the Jedi would hit the people out with the pool noodle (on their side only) and those people would come back to the game. The object of the game is to hit the other team's Jedi with a ball, then they must kneel down and the game goes to the winners of course.
Another cool game is called "Island Hopping", where you have 4 pairs of mats set up, approximately 20 feet away from each other. Divide the class into 5 teams, four teams having cool, tropical-like names, and I'll explain the fifth team later. The object of the game is to get everyone over to the island opposite you without anyone falling into the "water" (gym floor). If someone falls into the water, everyone must go back to the original island. Oh, and a important thing to mention is that there are objects on the original island, such as scooters, those ski things that two people go on where they must work together to move, rope, and maybe those moon shoes or something to that or anything that might encourage team work to get them over. Oh, and the fith team are the pirate team, who get individual scooters and go around with more pool noodles and try to get the people out in open water and hit them with the pool noodle, and all traveling from the original island to the new island must go back, and the kids on the new island can stay. Th only way to stop pirates coming is for everyone on the team to yell "Go Away Pirates!" simotaneously and then the pirates cannot attack. That's the second coolest game ever!

1. Make sure everyone-- including you have lots of fun! Do your best to motivate the kids in the best way that you see fit.

2. Get known for being a fun teacher, a slightly tough marker and a strict teacher. That's what kids like and they start to respect you if you have those qualities.

3. Do NOT let the kids trample over you like they like to do. Make sure that if they do something wrong, they're consequenced, if they get away once, everyone will start to lose respect.

4. Be firm, don't let stubborn kids change your mind. =)

5. HAVE FUN AND GOOD LUCK!!! =)

Well, always make sure that your students are having fun with at the same time learning. You will always get a child that doesnt think he/she will be able to do it. Encourage the kid to do so! Make sure you always have a fun warm-up before the actual lesson plan so that it gets the blood flowing! Always make sure that games, and activites are well thought out and organized, so that way that things dont get harry! Have fun with them! Cause if your having fun, so will the kids and they will get to like you even more!!
