What do you think of education in the US after reading some questions on YA?

I read questions and answers on YA a lot, as I am sure most of you do. I don't claim to be the best speller in the world. I don't even have the best grammar in the world, but I know basics. I see questions written all the time with words spelled very wrong.

For example: I am a top contributor in pregnancy and trying to conceive. I see this all the time:

pregnate = pregnant
thighroide = thyroid

I could go on with a list. But, when I see misspellings of basic words I wonder what is going on in US schools. It is somewhat frightening that this is what our schools are producing. What do you think?

I think that the responses on Yahoo!Answers reflect the laziness of Americans and not their lack of education. Most people know how to spell better than what I have observed. I appreciate good grammar.
"thighroide"! Now, that is funny.

NCLB has stopped teachers from teaching and students from learning. This law puts teachers on a time table to spoon feed the kids information for them to MEMORIZE, and not LEARN, so they can get good scores on the state tests so the school can GET MORE MONEY

They have a time table to go by and if the child doesn't learn, OH WELL! This is why they get thru school without learning anything.

AND, if any of these kids need help thru special ed, OH WELL to that, too because schools don't want to help kids thru special ed. If they did, you wouldn't see so many bad spellers on here.

As someone who goes to US high school, my spelling and grammar is perfectly fine.

I will admit that high school in the US is mundane, boring, and it sometimes makes me just prefer sleeping.
