Correcting a paper about education.....this is the introduction..could you help me?

Ok i'm working in a paper about education and i have 5 paragraphs and this one is the introduction only. Could you revise it pleasee???

My country El Salvador has been passing a terrible economic situation since many years ago. Apparently, it seems to be balanced in concern to wage salaries and lifestyle costs; but the reality is so far from that. When I was living in my country I finished my first year in higher education. During this year, I was told many times that a bad future was waiting for me because of the major I was studying, which was Architecture. People recalled me that difficulty I was going to get a job and a family with that. I always ignored all these people said to me; yet I realized that lack of opportunities is the principal reason why people hardly decide to follow high education in my country. For this issue, teenagers are dropping school at an early age. In addition, people get frustrated for being enabled to get jobs, and the non-existence of economic assistance from the government complicated more this issue.
