Have you attended school since you graduated from your last formal education? They say more and more professionals are attending some type of adult education program to get new training to help them learn new skills, get a professional certification, or learn a new field. Though most of my friends tell me that once they finished high school or college they could never see themselves going into a class room again. They hated every aspect of their schooling and the thought of watching a teacher lecture to them again, puts chills down their spine. How about you, have you attended any adult education classes?

Yes. Returning to school is a decision that the majority of adults choose after being out of school and in the working world for more than 5 years or longer. Another consideration is that while in college, a person picks a major then after working professionally, discover a different line/branch of that career they would rather do, so they return to school. Plus, after 5 years, a lot of adults are seriously beginning new families which changes the attitude of college days vs instructors, big time. I felt weird returning to school after 10 years, but it was a totally different experience because after being in the working world, I 'wanted' to learn and it was great!

Yes. I have taken post-graduate courses in linear algebra and differential equations (I'm an engineer) because I didn't understand them as well as I wanted to. And I have taken an occasional "adult education" class like photography and pottery. You see, the difference when you go back to school after graduation is that you actually _want_ to learn something. Because you want to learn, you are motivated to do the homework and ask questions in class. As a result, it often is much easier than the first time through. Another thing that makes it easier is being exposed to the working world. I am sometimes amused at the angst that I put in to, say, a 10 page term paper. Now, I kick out reports of that size and much larger on a regular basis without even thinking about it. And 75 minute classes that seemed to last forever are nothing compared to sitting through a day-long meeting.
