| My philosphy of education...any suggestions??? “You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.” Clay P. Bedford
As a teacher, I know, I must continually make an effort to bring new ideas into my classroom, try them, and learn from them. Learning to be a teacher does not stop once graduation is reached; it is a life long journey and commitment to your students, your colleagues, and yourself.
I believe it is imperative that students receive an education that is not focused entirely on curriculum, but instead, focused on acquiring skills and a knowledge base that will enable them to function at a superior level throughout their lives. It is also my belief that the most momentous education takes place when students are motivated and truly interested in the material that is being taught. I will help create this interest by focusing on the student’s individual needs and involving students in the process of their learning.
I will strive to create a safe, clean and comfortable environment for my students. I will create an environment that will help stimulate learning and creativity for all my students and help build a classroom community. I will urge students to take responsibility in helping decorate and maintaining the classroom facilities to give students a feeling of ability and accomplishment.
All students, regardless of ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status, religion or background need to be recognized, respected and embraced for their individual differences. It is essential that students are given a voice in their education and we assist them to find connections in the curriculum with their own lives and interests. By allowing students to bring their own stories, experiences and ideas into the classroom, it provides the students with opportunities to learn from one another and respect one another’s differences while growing as individuals.
I believe that we, as teachers, must have positive expectations. This means believing in each student and believing that every student can learn and be successful. Students only learn as much as they are expected and I will drive my students, with high expectations, to achieve their goals and perform to the best of their abilities.
I spelled philosophy wrong =/ nice start...but really, I could use some help!! =(
