is it me or is our education system a joke?

most foreign exchange students that i've encountered breeze through our education systems with ease

Our education system is a joke. Foreign schools are much better in my opinion. They challenge students more when they're younger. It's easier to learn when you're younger because your brain can absorb more.

there are some aspects about middle school and elementary school that are really dumb. But in high school, it seems like you get the opportunity to challenge yourself if you really want to. But yes, I think most of the system, besides high school and college is a joke.

I know! Like I've had 2 different korean students come to two different PRIVATE middle schools that I went/go to and they were like geinuses! Its crazy!

well i am an indian and i believe none of us can stop cribbing about school ..and everything ..but its not always that bad i mean its only about paying a bit of attention at school ,be regular and it would help even u 2 in sailing through ur education scenario and do as gud as ur foriegn counterparts .,.......u need 2 have a positive outlook both about urself and ur institute...gud luck

I've always thought it was bad, but never thought it was as bad as people were saying.....until I came here (Y!A). The writing ability and reasoning/critical thinking/intellect of some of the kids who post on here seems borderline retarded. And some of the questions I see asked in the homework section were beyond remedial....and the level of laziness shocks me, and I'm a lazy guy...asking questions about things you'd get on front page of a google search. is it just laziness, or do they not know how to do basic internet research??

you need to come to my grade school, you'll see what a joke the TEACHERS and the EDUCATION is.. its horrid... and for a catholic school you would expect better..
