Military Education Benefits?

I know some states like Wisconsin, Texas and Illinois offer free tuition to studnets if you enlisted originally in that state. Well I am returning from Iraq in July and will be ETS'ing and I was wondering if I could qualify for any benefits such as that. I enlisted originally in Florida but am stationed in Texas. Also I can claim hawaii because I just PCS'ed from there and have bills and property. Am I elgible for any benefits from these states? I know Texas you had to be a resident when enlisting but I was hoping maybe that was waiverable if you could claim residency now.

I know that Wisconsin, you have to be a resident for one year to claim their veterans benefits. My best friends hubby did that. First year was a little rough living off of their GI bill and retirement, but the second year when his Wisconsin benefits kicked in life was a bit better.

Most states have a requirement to change your legal residence to that state. Each state is different so you would probably need to check with legal. Since you enlisted in Florida I'm guessing you probably used to live there. That would make you a resident of Florida even if you havent lived there since you joined. You can change your state of residency if you were stationed in that state but you need to find out the requirements first.
