how do i do this research and get good primary and secondary sources for U.S....

...history paper? I have access to a lot of online databases, etc through my school.
I need to find out about Jay Gould and his response to the fact that the public hated him after he took over the Union Pacific Railroad in the 1870s. What kinds of things should I search under what databases to come up with some good primary and secondary source material? I appreciate your help.
