Jared K. Thomas has a spectacular aura about
Why in America, it's American History and not World History?

I was born in New York and reside here ever since. Grew up in the subburbs, and throughout my education life I only took American History.

It's boring to me because of how repetitive it felt to learn American history year after year.

I admit, if you show me a map, I have no idea where Iraq is, vaugly where great Britain is. I'm not asking that more history classes to be added on but I feel like history should be more broad in schools and universities.

I don't make assumptions so I don't think I'm arogant, but I'm pretty cluless about what goes on outside of the US.

Do you think American History and not World History are taught in schools for a reason? I think everyone knows that the US do spy on other countries in the past.
Well... I was taught some things in world history but it was rather vague. Like during world war two lots of japanese were killing the chinese. I never read that in class.

I don't feel that we were taught the history of other countires. If we were it wasn't very detailed.
I'm only asking this because I bought a few textbooks on world history and I'm reading things I never heard of before.

In hs their was a year for stuff like geography and all that but it wasn't as detailed. I mean, what? Years of American history and a footnote on the rest of the world?

After reading books that talk about the world at large at once throughout the time period... I felt history should be taught in this way.

I think some people here understand what I'm talking about.
