How do you permanently delete browsing history?

On the computer, how do you delete the browsing history. Everytime I delete it using the control panel and internet options it still shows up. How do I permanently delete it?

Well, for internet explorer 7, do this:
1. go to tools
2. click "delete browsing history"
3. click "delete all"
4. say bye bye to the history

To completely delet all your history first follow the instructions from the other answers. Next download Privacy Mantra and Trackless, these useful bits of software will allow you to delete recorded history in the index files which are NOT deleted through internet explorer's history deleting process

Press on the tools button which should be near the top on the right side of the screen
Then click on Internet options
Then when it says browsing history click delete all
Then choose the history you would like to delete
