Will the US invasion of Iraq go down in history as our biggest mistake?

Some say we should stay until Iraq becomes a working "democracy". Considering its demographics and our failing economy is this realistic?

If we pull out our precious oil will no doubt fall into the hands of extremists (which wouldn't seem to be a real loss considering we're seeing no benefit from it anyway) and the country will go completely farrell becoming a haven for Jihadists of all stripes.

Saddam was an exceedingly evil man, but his iron fisted approach kept the country stable. Now what?

I think the USA needs to choose its battles. Over the past 40 - 50 years America has failed to successfully conclude a war or police action. The list is an indictment of poor politics, poor strategies and a waste of life. The list includes:

Vietnam
Iraq
Afghanistan
Somalia
Grenada
Yugoslavia

You must be young... See, this is not the worst that can happen in a great country like this. Oh and keeping a country stable, do some homework and you'll find out there was no such thing.
