Internet explorer - why some history never gets cleared?

I use windows XP home with IE 6. I cleared my history of websites many times, and my history folder is empty, but still when I type in the address bar in IE, it pulls a list of websites that I visited long time ago. It doesnt bring the whole list of websites that I visited, but only a few and they remain in the list no matter what.

Why does it remain there even after clearing history? How can i get rid of them?

I recommend clearing the history, temporary internet files and cookies when you want to have all data removed. Then run Disk Cleanup and defrag your hard drive if you have a lot of files cleaned up by Didk Cleanup.
