All other answers are correct.
The US kept out of the war until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941, after which FDR went to congress and gave his famous "Day of Infamy" speech as he asked for Congress to declare war against Japan. (We were not actively at war with Germany at the time, although we were helping Britain acquire military equipment with Lend-Lease.)
The Battle of Britain occured in British skies when the Nazis attempted to massively bomb Britain. This Nazi effort failed due to the staunch resistance of the British. Britain was superior on the seas, so all the Nazis had going for them was their superior army, which didn't help them in the Battle of Britain. The pact that Hitler had signed with Russia only indirectly affected the Battle of Britain: it allow Hitler to direct his attention westward. The answer you want here is the one I have given.
