| Does anyone think that a shared history between a future Seattle Sonics team & the new OKC team makes sense?
The Seattle SuperSonics are leaving for Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma team will not be able to use the Sonics team name, logos, and colors. If Seattle does get an NBA team in the future that team will be able to call themselves the SuperSonics and use the Sonics' logos and colors. However, the team history will be shared between the new Seattle SuperSonics and the Oklahoma City NBA team. This means that, for example, the 1979 NBA championship (the only championship the Sonics ever won), retired player numbers, player statistics, and franchise records will all be shared between the two teams. If the Oklahoma NBA team happens to win a championship in the future will that be their first or second title in franchise history? And if the new Sonics win the following year, would that be their first title? Or is it their Second? This whole thing doesn't make any sense to me!!!!!! Shouldn't it be all or nothing? Shouldn't one team keep all of the history and the other team keep none of it?
Ashley can be a guy's name, although I don't know what my name has to do with the question...and the SuperSonics just one NBA title.
