It wasn't against Long somehow I always equated Ichiro with Long as a rookie don't know why! Anyways Sabathia deserved rookie of the year over Ichiro and Giambi deserved the MVP!
I don't see how you can say the AL West was a weak division in 2001. The A's won 102 games that year and got the Wild Card.
Ichiro is the most overrated player in baseball history!
