| I am 23 y/o. Got a mammogram, it found a "mass". Worried it could be cancer. Have a family history of Cancer.
My mom is a carrier of the breast cancer gene. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at 33 y/o. Got a mammogram as per doctor's request to start getting them since I am in the 10 year time frame my mom was diagnosed. At the time my mom was diagnosed they told her that her lump was non-cancerous and to get another mammogram in 6 months. In that 6 month time frame the lump increased size by 4 times. This was the factor that caused to have a mastectomy instead of a lumpendectomy. I do monthly exams, but I am big breasted so there was no possible way for me to detect this "mass" due to the location of it, all the way in the back, I think near the breast plate, or bone. I saw the mammogram pictures, and it looks to be between the size of a quarter and a silver dollar, not perfectly round. My husband is in the military, so we are covered by Tricare. I am not sure what I can do, I am not comfortable waiting the 6 months, I want to be here for my 2 y/o son. I am fond of my breasts and hair too
