i need an extended essay question, for history. the essay has to be 4000

words long. please help me!? examples of extended essay questions are:
to what extent did the treaty of versaille cripple the german economy, leading to the economic crisis in 1923?
- to what extent did the Nazis successfully implement their reproductive policies in order to reach their goal of an increased birth rate?
I thought of something like compare and contrast Hitler's and Mussolini's economic policies.. or something like that but my teacher said it was to broad... how do i make this a more precise question, and he also said this question is not so interesting .... any better ideas for what I should do my question on and what it should be?

Your question is a good start. How about

Hitler and Mussolini both exerted gvt control over their economies. What were the differences in the degree of control, and the consequences of those differences to the countries' war machines?

This carves it down a bit, points it at an aspect of you question. Don't forget manpower as a war input!

You are going to have to do quite a bit of research in order to weigh up the pros and cons from all the info.

My advice would be to approach it from the other way around. That is, have a look at sites on the web and from what you have decide on the topic. It is a lot easier to chose a topic once you have lots of info.

Try this:

To what extend did the German RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst) of the Nazi regime equal the American CWA (Civil Works Administration) of the New Deal?

This is interesting because Roosevelt and Hitler both came in charge at about the same time but had very different goals. Still it looks like they employed the same methods (to some extend).

I'm not sure what your parameters are, but comparing German and Soviet economies would be quite interesting. Germany had already been fully industrialized whereas the USSR was starting from a much more agrarian state.
