What should my history projuct be about? Please Help. Ideas needed!?

Here in Ireland we have to do a history project (on anything, though have irish links to it preferably) that is worth 20% of our final grade in the History Leaving Cert.

I would like to do something regarding the D-Day landings or that area. But I don't know what exactly, and it's always better to have Irish links in the topic. I was also thinking the Irish involvement in Dunkirk, but really I'm quite stumped. The project is max 1500 words.

Please if you could give me any ideas, I would be very grateful. Or tips from anybody who's done this project would be marvellous.
Thanks very much!
Thanks, but the irish potatoe famime has been done to death over here. It's considered for primary school rather then secondary (High School) over here. Thanks very much though. Btw, there are trees in Ireland. Quite a few actually, but thank you very much!

Do something positive. The work of Horace Plunkett, for example.

i took history for the leaving but didnt bother doing the project....lmao at the trees thing!

is there a part of the irish history text book that interests u?
u could do something about de valera or michael collins, since theres been movies about them this could give u a start

u could do about the formation of the free state

i always found the period about the english landlords coming over and taking the land and the irish fighting back an interesting topic

good luck with it

p.s. know it backwords for the exam so that u dont waste any time trying to remember it!

The Irish were neutral during ww2, but they increased their army to 40,000 men . They also volunteered to help Britain, but their most important role was the crucial weather reports they gave the Allies for the D - Day landings. Those reports gave the go ahead for the Operation. I'm American, but proud of my Irish heritage.
