Are people really researching their favorite canidate's voting history?

I know why I picked the person I picked during my state's primary. I looked at the topics/bills they voted on and the one that I agreed with the most got my vote. Did anyone else do that? I only wonder because with all the rumors (He is muslim, She takes Walmart kickbacks) about Hilary and Obama; I was wondering if anyone stopped to really look into the history of the canidate they so freely spread stupid rumors about all over the internet. Did Hilary ever really vote for NAFTA and Did Obama really vote against the war? I mean if you don't like him because he is black, say so. If you don't like her because she is a woman, say so. If you don't like either of their politics, say so. Why the stupid rumors? Why are people arguing about things that are untrue and not about their voting records?

That a very good question. I certainly don't consider race if I wanted to vote for a black man or woman. People really needs to really do some research because this is going to be a very very difficult job to inherit. Voting records is number one like you say. No one should vote blindly. Good looks, pretty faces, great speeches don't make a responsible President.

Yeah, I did.

10 terms, 20 years of completely consistent, Constitutionally principled votes.

Obama voted to fund the war and voted for the Patriot act. He wasn't there when they initially voted for the war (and Hillary voted for it.)

Ron Paul (my guy) not only voted against it but fought against it, embarrassing the House by forcing an up or down vote on a Constitutional DECLARATION of war (different than what they wanted). That was voted down. Then they voted to 'authorize' it without a declaration of war, deviating entirely from Constitutional authority.

If you are truly anti war, why aren't you voting for Ron Paul? Neither of your folks are anti war, not really.
