I actually thought it was decent movie. I wouldn't neccessarily call it a remake because a lot of the film had a lot of backstory and character building as to how Michael became the way he was. It was almost as if the movie was trying to show that Michael wasn't just a one dimensional monster that just killed people. The movie actually showed you how he became that way despite a hard working single mother with a loser boyfriend and a child therapists attempts at trying to help him.

It is an appalling remake, devoid of any of the creepiness and class that the John Carpenter original displayed. A very typical effort from Zombie which uses nastiness and trailer trash dialogue to compensate for real scares. The whole premise of the original where Michael was a purely evil vessel from birth is traded for a typically hollywood type back story of abuse which bogs the film down and does nothing for the development of his character. The fact he was very much a mystery in the original helped prolong the suspense. The realism levels in this were also pushed to the extremes which i found extremely annoying to deal with. Overall a bad experience all round. See the Dawn of the Dead remake for an example of how a film should be remade for a modern audience.
