| can you explain the practice of Ramadan fasting?
I read in a book that people are required to go without food and drink from sun up to sun down during Ramadan so that they might develop sympathy for the poor and hungry. so my question is this: if abstinence from food is designed to foster sympathy for the poor and hungry, is the purpose of concurrent abstinence from sex supposed to foster sympathy for those who can't get any?
