What day of the year did you personally become independent of something or someone who was weighing you down?

What does this question have to do with Holidays - Australia Day? That is our country's national day but it does not commemorate independence or anything like it. Please do your research to avoid placing questions in the wrong category - you are likely to get more and better answers if you put it in the correct place.

Interesting question. I really have never thought about it! But I would say 07/07/07, the day I was married. I know it sounds weird saying this was my day of independence. BUT, it was when I truly felt independent from my parents. I felt like I was finally my own person and could share the rest of my life as an equal to my husband.
