Additionaly there are also 5 main prohibitions in preperation for yom kippur.
1. no eating and drinking
2. no wearing leather shoes
3. no bathing or washing
4. no annointing oneself with perfumes and lotions
5. no marital relations

its the climax of the high holidays and its really the last chance we have to ask of god to inscribe us in the book of life and to let us live another year
