Since some Christians refuse to take part in anything that has pagan roots such as Christmas and Easter,? what do they do with the days of week? Can you stop taking part in the days of week? Tuesday=Tyrsday Wed=Woten (Odin) Thurs=Thors And in other Romance languages I believe they are the Roman gods for the days of the week. Ignore mispellings. I haven't slept in two days. Becky: You need to seriously pick up a history book. LOL I prefer the term heathen to pagan. They are Norse/Germanic gods an at one time there was a great deal of practice surrounding those.

Now you know why Christianity has been such a successful religion. The secret has been to incorporate local traditions and reinterpret them in a Christian way. Go to Rome. Everywhere in the city you see how the Church "triumphs" over "paganism" by turning the temples into churches, building churches on top of pagan ruins, surmounting crosses on top of Roman and Egyptian obelisks. All over Rome, the Church has "triumphed." This is exactly how Christianity has expanded wherever it has gone. It is false to assume the Church "eradicated" paganism, it merely incorporates local customs and traditions which are useful and reinterprets them. It still does. It has always taken St. Paul's advise in I Corinthians 9:20-21: And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all [men], that I might by all means save some. "Purists" eventually succumb or historically become diluted or wither away.

No one living stops taking part in the days of the week. It doesn't matter what language you use to describe the days of the week. We all take part in those days. There is no Scriptural reference that we are to commemorate the Lord's birth especially when it is not even December 25th. There is reference to commemorating His death and resurrection. We call it communion. Many call it, the Lord's Supper. Both Easter and Christmas are pagan holidays as they are currently celebrated. Christians partake of those days as they see fit.
