...christmas? ive been given a pair of scissors as a christmas gift. Ive heard that it gives bad luck. How do i stop the bad luck and get good luck again

not too sure if this is correct but i think you have to give the person who gave you them a silver coin..... or something like that.

The version of avoiding this that I learned from my grandmother was that when giving scissors or a knife as a gift you put a coin in the box with it which the gitted person then gives back to you "To pay you for it" so that it does not become a gift that cuts friendship !

When I did this to a dear firend of many years he asked what's the penny for ? I explained and he said he gave the coin to his child--he'd never heard of this before !!

To some folks this is a cheapening of the gesture of giving the gift, but to me it is a fine old, old, old tradition. Sometimes I wonder am I the only one who ever heard of the practice ?

I don't know if it works retroactively but in case it does give the gift donor a penny. Best if you get him to give you the penny ahead of time.

Sounds like superstitious mumbo jumbo to me. You need to relax and come to terms with the fact that inanimate objects cannot give luck either good or bad.

Throw them in the bin. It is bad etiquette to give knives or sharp objects as a gift. Get rid babe and have a great life.
