Is home schooling the way to go?

I reli want to be home schooled i hate it at my school and i feel depressed most of the day. I wanted to know if you were home schooled, would I get as good as an education as I would in school or would I lag behind. How will i know what to learn and stuff and if one day i decided to go back to my school again, would it be awkward. Has that happened to anyone, where they have left school then gone back but no one treated them the same???????????????????
