I have two teens and I had this problem too as a kid. The question I ask mine is whether or not they ate lunch. Most often, lack of good food and dropping blood sugar is the culprit. They don't want to be seen eating in front of friends, or don't want to take their lunch or use lunch money on snacky stuff rather than healthier foods that will last them until they get home. Lack of water is another problem they have because they can't necessarily have all they want or need during a school day. Dehydration causes headaches like low blood sugar. Try this for a couple days: be sure to eat a good lunch with plenty of protein drink as much water as you can or carry a bottle with you if your school permits. Eat a snack when you get home or carry a good snack to have once school lets out. Protein bars from the store, or a couple of the healthier kind of granola bars, cheese and crackers, etc. Basically not candy, chips or anything junky because if it makes you feel better it won't last long. Lastly, as tempting as it is to stay up late (I know my son is texting sometimes as late as midnight because I hear his phone), get a good night's sleep; fatigue and stress can also cause headaches.
