can you give me advice for my lost puppy?

hey guys, 2 days ago I posted a question about how to keep my puppy out of my flower bed and from eating my flowers. Remember? Many responded, thanks. But now I have a bigger problem. My puppy is missing! I let him outside in the mornings with our other dog..(he is a lab also) and usually they eat, pee, etc.. and stay on the porch. The older dog is very protective of the little one and has taken very good care of watching over him. This morning when I came home from taking my children to school both dogs were gone! The older dog came back about an hour later by himself. I need you opinion and advice. We live away from town and city limits but usually no one travels on our road except the people who live on it. Do you think someone stopped and picked him up? Should I pull into everyones driveway and look around even if I don't know them? we have searched our property all day. I have three little girls who went to bed crying tonight and a 2 year old depressed lab.

Okay, let me get this straight... You left two dogs outside in an unfenced yard (loose) while you took your children to school and were surprised when they ended up missing? Yikes, I hope you learned from that!Chances are the two dogs went exploring, one knew the way back home and the other did not. Your puppy could've either found a new home, is outside alone somewhere terrified, or even worse it could've been hit by a car or attacked by a larger animal. You should contact all local animal shelters. Contact animal control, ask them if they have seen your puppy recently. Post flyers, ask neighbors, ect ect. The chances of finding a lost dog are slim to none, it is best to act as quickly as possible.

Do not just call the local pound and shelters but GO there to see if your dog is there! It is possible someone took your dog. Does he have tags? If yes offer a reward in the newspaper for his return. Dog snatching is common. If he doesn't have tags, offer a reward by his description. Keep the ad running a few weeks.Look for him yourself too. Dogs can travel very far very fast.If you find him, please get him a brass plate on his collar with your address and phone # and the word "REWARD". I wish you the best.Let us know what happens.

I am so srry to hear that, but i do agree with the 1st commenter u left them in a unfenced porch area? Well it owuld have been easier putting them in the backyard or somewhere with fencing. I would never leave people could have jacked the dog...srry to say but could have been killed...maybe even lost and terrified. I hope u did learn ur lesson i agree with the two first commenters. Well put up signs check the pounds and talk to ur nieghbors once in a while. Best of luck hope u find the pup. T.T <------ Btw thats a crying face.

Ok, I'm not even going to 'go there' about leaving them in an area where they could wander off...As it's been said before, call the pounds, call the police department, and if you really care about this little guy, GO VISIT every pound and shelter in the area. These places (although I have a hard time with it) deal with SO many displaced animals, and SO many calls. Surely unless you go there in person you cannot have piece-of-mind. Make fliers with a PICTURE and his name included. Call neighbors and ask them to help. Go house-to-house until you find him. Believe me, he misses you, too.I wish you luck, and I hope you can post a successful recovery story soon!

I'm sorry to hear about your puppy. First of all, I'll pray for you and your puppy right now-silence while praying, then I'll type what I said in my prayer. Here's what I just said in my prayer-" Heavenly Father, I thank you for providing me with a lot of new Christian friends at church and on Yahoo Answers. At this time, I pray that you protect this puppy and that it is safely brought back as soon as possible. In your Son's name I pray, Amen.I suggest that if you have a picture of your puppy, you post it on a sheet of paper mentioning that it's lost. Describe the puppy and provide details such as when the dog was noticed missing, where it was last seen,etc.. Of course, provide your name and contact info. If you choose, you can offer a reward. I'd ask all of your neighbors, friends, and coworkers for help. If you think somebody took him, call the police.Good luck, and keep me posted. John-traveler

There are many good ideas about going to shelters, etc. Does any of your local radio stations have call in shows to advertise things for sell etc? This is also a place to advertise for lost pets. Also ask local stores, mini-marts, gas stations etc if ok to post flyer. I would not go onto someone else's property without permission, but I would go door-to-door with a picture of pet. Also, you can advertise online at dogdetective.com. I am sure that there are other web sites that advertise lost pets if you use a search engine you can find one, many animal shelters have web sites to advertise lost animals.I, also, will pray for you. I have lost pets who got off leash, out of pens. Things happen that we wish didn't. We learn from them and go on. Focus now on finding the one who left and loving the one still there.

You have been given some very good options. I suggest that you do as many as you can, that have been listed, but ESPECIALLY talk to your neighbors & show a picture , if one has been taken of the puppy. Put up posters at stores, the library, schools, etc., all relevant information about the puppy, your contact info & reward info. Oh yeah.... Labradors are great hunting dogs. Maybe if you had the other dog sniff something that the pup clung to, you might be able to get the elder one to track down the younger one. Just a thought..... OR maybe you know someone who has a dog that is trained in tracking. I imagine that you needed to get your girls somewhere, within a timeframe & either you forgot to put the dogs in a safe place , or were hurried to get to the destination with the girls & just thought that the dogs would be OK until you returned. I am sorry to hear of this new situation. Pets can be just as enheartening, as if they were another child in the family. Just know that prayers are being said for this matter.
