| How can I remain positive about having to stay in my hometown for university? It's kind of a hick town. I moved back here 8 months ago to go to uni, and I have another year and a half to go. I really really miss the city. There was much more going on there. It's way more beautiful. There's more diversity there. And I liked the anonymity of living in a city I didn't grow up in. I never ran into people from my past, who asked me what I'm doing with my life and all that awkward stuff. But it's way less expensive living here at home. There are some great things about being here -- I have good friends, I have a really cool family. People are more close-knit here. To be honest, I'm less lonely here than I was in the big city. And my school is here. I like being at the university. What are some things I could do to feel less blue about being away from the city? One idea I had was to watch a few movies about quaint little towns ... that might help me romanticize the whole experience here, lol. I could spend lots of time with the good people I know here. Thanks. |

| How can I remain positive about having to stay in my hometown for university? It sounds like you are fairly happy in your small town. Tell yourself this is temporary. When you get your degree, you can look for a job in a big city. You'll have more money to do big city things then. You are still young. You can last for another year and a half. In the meantime, research what cities you might like to live in.Make plans for when you can move. |
