I need some advice. I am in a real rut, want to go to university :(? I dont know what I can do.I have rent, and bills. Lots of them. Cant get out of a lot of them. I want to go to school to become a nurse. The program I want to take is 4 years long, and I can take some courses ahead of time to lighten my course load. Its a full time, intensive course. I wont be able to work that much, if at all.How am I going to afford to pay rent, bills, AND go to school??? I dont have the option of living at home with my mom. I dont have a lot of options at all.I feel so stuck. I can get a student line of credit from the bank of up to 40,000 but even that wont cover living AND school. How the hell do people do it?I am in Manitoba, Canada by the way.Should I just give up and be stuck forever in a go- nowhere job?

I need some advice. I am in a real rut, want to go to university :(? Here in Ontario, we have a provincial government financial program for students attending/starting university called OSAP. Which is an interest free loan. Maybe Manitoba also has their own program, as well as the bank loan

I need some advice. I am in a real rut, want to go to university :(? Student loans in Canada are a great option, plus you can most likely qualify for the Millennium scholarship for low income people. Canada student loans generally assumes you'll be living off of about 750 a month for living expenses, which doesn't sound like much but is doable. Here's the site for Manitoba student aid http://www.gov.mb.ca/educate/sfa/pages/sfaFrontDoor_en.html You have to file through whichever province you're a resident of, then part of the money you get is from the province, part from the federal government. I wouldn't go with a bank loan unless you absolutely need it cause you have to make payments on it monthly. At least with the government one's you don't have to start making payments until about six months after you finish you're program. Since you're in Manitoba I'm assuming you're thinking of the university there. You can check their website for various scholarships, they'll have some entrance scholarships and after your first year you can start qualifying for academic scholarships as well. Here's the link for UofM's financial aid site, it can give you lots of information. http://umanitoba.ca/student/fin_awards/ The province also has lot's of scholarships and grants available that you can apply for. I've been there so I know it can seem daunting that you're going to have to pay out all this money to go to school for 4 years and won't be making the same amount as you are now, but in the end it's worth it. I was in your same situation, lots of bills, rent, wanting to go to school, etc, and just graduated from UofRegina and was able to make it through with student loans and working part time.

I need some advice. I am in a real rut, want to go to university :(? Night school? Distance education? Not possible? Then, save for however long, double job it occasionally, and then take the earth-wrenching loans, with a reasonably high pay-back rate to get rid of them ASAP.Emigrate to Australia might be an option: education is cheaper here, and so may be the cost of living. No few people do high-return, low-time jobs, but really, any job while studying is an extra load you do not need.More than that, I can only give the Edge's advice: "Hold On To Your Dreams".
