Saving Electricity tips FLORIDA?

I live in the Fort Lauderdale area of Florida. I was wondering if someone new of any tips to maybe save on electricity. Im pretty good at putting the ac up before i leave. And cooler when I am at home. I also wondering about maybe the lights, i sit worth buying the energy help lights i see every where? Any other tips would be great. My electric bill was just way too much this past 2 months. Also, do plasma tv.s burn more electricity than old school tube tv.s? thanks yahoo'ers

Those lightbulbs do help... another way to lower the bill is unplug anything not in use, and unplug what you can during the day (TV, irons, lamps, even if they're turned off). Put your computer in sleep or hibernate mode. On ANY cool days, shut off the a/c and open windows and doors. Don't preheat the oven and try not to open the door a lot when something is cooking

Turn off the AC and open your windows.Don't use lights, use candles.Instead of an electric stove, use gas.

the new florescent light bulbs work great. buy a bbq and cook everything outside, drink beer with every meal, and you wont have to worry about sleeping in the house ever again. its cool sleeping on the grass. just dont smoke it

Turn off stereos, and other electrical equipment when you're not using them.
