getting ready for school?

what things should my preschoolers 3 and 4 year old know, I want to work with them at home are there any good curriculums out there and what's the best method to start teaching them writing skills.

In preschool all they work on are things like learning colors, number and letter recognition and getting along with other children. You can also help your child learn to write the letters and numbers, specifically their name properly with a capital letter in front and then lower case letters. A lot of Kindergarten teachers complain that children come to school writing their names in all caps. Puzzles and coloring are also great for that age. I wouldn't look for specific preschool curriculum. It's just basic stuff.

umm help teach them to maybe learn their numbers, how to write their names, and their ABC's. They arent expected to know too muhc for preschool.

mine is 5 years old now but i started teaching him when he was 4.at first i teach the alphabet.first singing with them the alphabet,because they might not remember it.slowly introduced them with one letter for one day until they remember.do it for all the letters.when they remember one letter,you try to teach them how to write it.just try not to pushed them cause they will get boring and refused to learn.you can ask them to draw anything they want at first to make sure they know how to use the pencils.slowly ask them to draw a straight line,square and difference shapes and line.

as i just told someone else start with basic lines/\l-Ox these are funemental for our alphabet, as for book you dont really need books for preschoolers just a great imagination, if you feel you are better off with books tere are a few good ones,abeca books are good, and you will want to read The Well Trained Mind, check out K12 online acadamy for some reason I am drwing a blank if I remember any more I will be back.

I'm also a preschool teacher and use Handwriting without tears curriculum. I think it is by far the BEST! I purchased the student workbooks and the teacher instruction book and absolutely would recommend them to others. My kids (barely 3 - 4 yrs) started using it and all could write several letters bythe end of the week! We do maybe 1-2 10 minute handwriting sessions each day (different activities: writing, building letters, tracing letters, etc.) The kids love it and the parents love the progress their kids are making.As for other requirements, I'd start by checking with your local elem. schools to find out what they require their Kinders to accomplish by the end of the year. Most definitely thought, I would work on Math, Science, Reading/literacy, Handwriting, Art, and History. Don't expect them to do the work of a 1st grader; but there is nothing wrong with exposing children to a well-rounded curriculum.In my care, I follow the Montessori/Waldorf teaching methods and have my home set up encourage such learning. There are TONS of curriculum ideas available everywhere. The key is to find what you're interested in. If you have an interest in teaching weather the kids will pick up on that and will share your enthusiasm.My personal favorite books are (1) Story of the World by Susan Wise Bauer (History) - it's target audience is actually 1st-3rd; but the kids like the stories and enjoy the art projects. I try to tailor the art projects to the younger kids can understand the concept and can fully participate. (2) 365 Ways to a Smarter Preschooler by Marilee Robin Burton and Susan G.
