Threats toward children do not always make them behave for there attention span is short. But if they are raised in a fashion that will let them know that misbehaving will be getting them grief from 'grounding or some form of penalty' then the lesson will follow them in life. Physical punishment only brings resentment and anger.

No, most parents just say that like they say a lotta other similar stupid things. When my kids were in trouble in school we had our own consequences.

However, if a teacher ever DARED administer physical punishment to any child of mine they would be the ones getting the "twice as much" from ME.

We had a teacher who used to slap kids across the face. She was upset with me one time over a stupid minor manner and I could tell she was getting ready to administer her particular brand of punishment. I told her if she slapped me I would slap her right back. My Mom obviously got a call but she stood by me as it wasn't right. Teachers do not have that right even if allowed by law.

Do you mean 100 swats when he gets home? Fifty swats is abusive to begin with, so no. Maybe five or six swats, but not fifty.

When I was in school we got swats. I never heard of any one getting more than TWO swats, even for those that were naughty enough to be expelled from school. Fifty swats I would think calls for an investigation. Any way, I signed a form at school not giving permission for the school to give my children swats. I told them to have the children call me from the office to let me know why they were in trouble. Then I would decide the punishment when they got home. I didn't and still wouldn't want someone hitting my children.

No. I would be more specific than that. It wouldn't have to be the same punishment.

my parents used to punish me again if I complained I gopt told off at school so i kept quiet about it after that because i didnt want to get punished again
